The Harvest Challenge: Years of Dead Ends
Mr. Zeng has been growing and harvesting licorice in Xinjiang for years. After more than a decade of trial and error in medicinal-crop harvesting, he tried one equipment setup after another without finding one that balanced cost and reliability.
In the early days he harvested licorice with excavators. The digging left the field full of pits and ruts, so a screening machine had to follow with a second pass to level the ground — a cumbersome process with high labor and equipment costs, exceeding 1,000 yuan per mu (1 ha ≈ 15 mu). He later tried several domestic 200–300 hp tractors, but none had the power to drive a four-layer screening harvester. He also bought a 3504 model that could cover 30 mu a day, yet its rear axle could not take the heavy loads of frozen-soil harvesting, and that attempt ended in failure. For a long time, this kind of licorice harvesting could only be handled by imported tractors of 340 hp or more, which carry a steep purchase price.
Hybrid Power Cracks the Frozen-Soil Harvest
The turning point came when the Keroty KGC3804 hybrid tractor went to work. With optimized power delivery and a reinforced structure, it steadily pulls a four-layer screening harvester. Winter frost in Korla turns the ground rock-hard, and many brands of farm machinery cannot cope with harvesting in soil frozen 60 cm deep. The KGC3804 completes the licorice digging reliably, working at high intensity for more than ten consecutive days with stable overall performance; the few minor issues that came up were resolved quickly, so the farming season was never delayed.
Lower Costs, Higher Output, Local After-Sales Support
Mr. Zeng did the math carefully. With the Keroty hybrid tractor, digging and screening are finished in a single pass, bringing the operating cost down to 750 yuan per mu — 300 yuan less per mu than the excavator setup. Fuel consumption is 30% lower than with conventional solutions, work efficiency is up 50%, and one KGC3804 does the work of five to six excavators. The purchase price is only half that of a comparable imported machine. Keroty also runs a branch plant in Xinjiang, so after-sales response is fast and support never goes missing during the busy season.
Mr. Zeng made a special trip to the Urumqi exhibition to voice his endorsement: in China today, Keroty is the only brand that has made this harvesting solution work. He is glad to promote domestic farm machinery himself, confident that Keroty products will not let users down.
